Bespoke rehabilitation programme with your goals and lifestyle factors in mind (we know mums are busy!)
Yes you do! While a Mummy MOT is not part of a standard post-natal rehabilitation plan here in the UK, in other countries, every new mother will receive the treatment as part of their 6-8 week check-up to address the more common issues faced after childbirth and to encourage your body to heal properly, but is never too late to book in for your Mummy MOT®. We can still help you even if your children are now 20 years old!
The hormonal effects of pregnancy and the physical weight and pressure of the baby resting on your pelvic floor means that these muscles often stretch, become weaker or do not function as well as they should.
This means that even if you feel normal, you should get yourself checked out to make sure that you won’t get symptoms 6 months later, or when you become peri menopausal later in life.
It is common to have urinary leakage but it’s not normal! This should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.
It can be treated and we can help you.
Research shows that perineal tears affect 85% of women who birth vaginally – this is an injury to the pelvic floor muscles.
If you tore your ligaments at your ankle or knee you wouldn’t ‘wing it’ back to exercise and normal function.
You’d expect and would receive structured and progressive rehabilitation.
Your pelvic floor muscles are no different!
